Paris is a city of culture, romance, and adventure. Whether you're looking for a romantic getaway or an action-packed family vacation, Paris has something to offer everyone. From the iconic Eiffel Tower to the world-famous Louvre Museum, there are plenty of things to do in this beautiful city. As a travel planner that books many European vacations, I'm constantly being asked for some of my favorite activities when it comes to visiting Paris. I'm happy to share some of my top picks with you! From outdoor adventures like balloon rides and bike tours, to cultural experiences like visiting the Catacombs and exploring the Montmartre neighborhood, there's something for everyone in Paris.
I just love wandering through museums and taking in all of the artwork on display. Paris’ Louvre is one of the world’s largest art museums, so don't waste your time waiting in line. Head straight inside, with your priority access admission, to see three of its biggest crowd-pleasers, including the unavoidable gaze and wry smile of Da Vinci’s “Mona Lisa." This guided tour is one of my favorites because you will hear fascinating tales and tidbits about these unmissable masterpieces. After coming face to face with several artworks by great masters, you’re free to explore the Louvre independently.
The most requested tour I hear from my clients interested in Paris is the Eiffel Tower and specifically how to get to the top! There are very few tour options that include access to the summit, this one however does! This tour also saves you time by allowing you to bypass the long lines at the Eiffel Tower with this tour. Once you have skipped the line you will head to the second level to survey the city from the viewing platforms while listening to commentary about Paris culture, traditions, and history. Then, proceed to the summit to see Gustave Eiffel's private apartments and sip Champagne from the onsite bar (extra expense). When you finish the tour make sure to get your picture in front of the Eiffel Tower at night when it is all lit up!! Can you say iconic!!
Experience the grandeur and beauty of the Versailles palace and gardens on a small-group tour from Paris! Visit the royal residences of French kings, stroll through the breathtaking gardens, and admire the fountains, sculptures, and architecture. With convenient transportation to and from Paris included in your tour package, you'll be able to enjoy your day without worrying about getting lost or missing out on any of the sights. This tour is perfect because it includes roundtrip transportation from your hotel while even including being able to skip the lines! What a great way to maximize your time in Paris!
Despite the tragic fire in 2019, the Notre-Dame Cathedral and Île de la Cité remains an architectural masterpiece. Visit the surrounding Île de la Cité, the historic heart of Paris, and stroll along the Seine River. The area is filled with charming streets, bookshops, and cafés. Notre Dame Cathedral, also known as Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Paris, stands as one of the most iconic landmarks in Paris. This medieval architectural marvel, famously depicted in Victor Hugo's timeless novel 'The Hunchback of Notre Dame,' continues to captivate visitors with its Gothic grandeur and intricate stained-glass windows. Situated on Île de la Cité, an island nestled in the Seine River, this UNESCO World Heritage Site retains its regal presence, showcasing a timeless legacy.
Explore the artistic and bohemian neighborhood of Montmartre, famous for its narrow streets, artists' studios, and the lively Place du Tertre. Climb to the top of Montmartre to visit the stunning Sacré-Cœur Basilica, offering panoramic views of the city. Montmartre is rich in history, and aside from the Sacré-Cœur, you can explore other landmarks such as the historic Moulin Rouge cabaret. The neighborhood's narrow, winding streets are filled with stories and character, providing a glimpse into its vibrant past. Whether you're an art enthusiast, history buff, or someone seeking a unique and picturesque setting, Montmartre offers an enchanting escape within the heart of Paris.
Wander down the grand Champs-Élysées, known for its theaters, cafés, and luxury shops. The Champs-Élysées is one of the most famous avenues in the world, known for its grandeur and elegance. Its wide and tree-lined boulevard provides a picturesque setting for leisurely strolls and appreciation of Parisian architecture. At the western end, you'll find the iconic Arc de Triomphe. Consider climbing to the top for more spectacular views of Paris, especially the grand avenue leading to it. The avenue is home to several cultural landmarks, including the Théâtre Marigny and the Grand Palais. These iconic structures contribute to the cultural richness of the area and offer a glimpse into Paris's artistic heritage.
